The West Side Neighborhood Association (WSNA) is launching the Love UR Block initiative in the summer of 2024 as a way to continue fostering community pride, beautification, and neighbor-to-neighbor collaboration in Charleston’s West Side neighborhood, one block at a time.
What is the Love UR Block initiative?
Love UR Block is a neighbor-to-neighbor, block-by-block program that empowers West Side residents to be recognized for taking pride in their block through clean-ups and beautification projects, like planting flowers. By coming together as a West Side community, we can make a significant impact on the health, environment, and overall quality of life in our local community.
West Side neighbors can enroll year round – so get the folks on your block together and let’s beautify the West Side of Charleston block-by-block today!
WSNA invites you to join your neighbors in this meaningful endeavor by signing up as a Block Ambassador or Community Volunteer for the Love UR Block initiative. Here’s how you can participate:
- Become a Block Ambassador: Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Consider becoming a Block Ambassador and lead efforts on your street or block. Block Ambassadors play a crucial role in coordinating clean-up activities, delegating responsibilities, rallying neighbors, and overall being a driving force for beautifying the block.
- Become a Block Volunteer: Whether you have a green thumb, enjoy painting, or simply want to lend a helping hand, your participation in your community is invaluable. Sign-up to participate in clean-up dates, beautification projects, and community events on your block and in the West Side Neighborhood as a whole!
Neighbors that participate in the Love UR Block initiative not only have the opportunity to build community bonds and make a difference while beautifying their section of the West Side, but also have the opportunity to earn amazing rewards for their block.
- Love UR Block neighbors that log three or more clean-up or beautification activities a month, within a calendar year from signing up, will earn an artist designed refuse or flower planter for the block.
- Love UR Block Neighbors that log at least two clean-up or beautification activities a month, within a calendar year from signing up, will earn a unique garden ornament for their block.
- All Love UR Block Neighbors will receive a shared Love UR Block Kit and social media shoutout for registering their block to participate in the program. Kit includes a Love UR Block yard sign gloves, hand garden tools, a variety of seeds, a sharps box, litter pickers and bags.
